Hey Funky Cold MWodina,
Here is yet another way to think about a mobility practice. I’m up in Connecticut for a Mobility Seminar at Crossfit Milford. The kids up here are legit strong. Crap, Hobart, The Bergeron’s and the likes of Rob Orlando are in the area. I need to be ready tomorrow to potentially lift some heavy weights after the cert. After spending six hours on the plane and another three in the car ride from NYC, I’m feeling a bit short in the hips. I’m going to Mobilize after a HOT shower (melt the fuzz) and before bed. I planned today as a no training/travel day. But as you all know, a day of not hitting the sliding surfaces AND opening up the joints is like taking a step backwards. We have to constantly cultivate position.
My warm-up for tomorrow’s heavy session starts in earnest tonight.
Homework: Don’t reactively mobilize today. Instead start thinking about what the demands of tomorrow’s work load might be. And get started. I’ll already be ahead of the guys I’m training with tomorrow by the time I even hit the door.
I’ll need the help…
Bonus: Our Finnish Osteopath has given us a model for dealing with the nasty outside elbow bits. Drift over to Crossfit Thames for more. People ask me all the time about how to select a good physiotherapist, physical therapist, osteopath, or chiropractic physician. The answer is simple: Do they lift heavy weights, coach people that lift heavy weights, and can they bleed from the eyeballs with running 400′s and doing muscle ups? Yes? Easy huh.
