Hey Power Freaks,

Today’s mission comes as a request from one of my coaching idols.  Today, we are taking on some causes of elbow pain in the front rack position (think front squat/power clean/full clean.)

When we don’t have a neurodynamic problem at the elbow, the usual elbow complaints then are from overtension coupled with a poor positioning.  Think about taking a tight hinge joint and then making it flex off axis, poof, this is your elbow pain.  You could also try some flexion gapping here of course (remember the knee and the elbow are basically the same joint.)

I’m 61 and had my hip replaced 1 yr. ago. Since you are a PT and an athlete, I have a ?. Is squatting beyond parallel a reasonable goal? I’m a bit nervous about that “hip restriction” that I think was meant for life,i.e. not bending beyond 90 degrees. Any thoughts?
