Hey MWod-Stars,

Todays episode is dedicated to my brothers and sisters who have accidentally set of the bomb in their heads during intense training sessions. Yes, I’m talking about the dreaded exertional headache beast.

As always, the best defense is to be hydrated, leopard like, supple, and in a neutral head position. But sometimes, in spite of your best defenses, the Beast gets you. Here are is a MobRx for that horrible headache.

Another great postural alignment technique is leaning back of head against a wall. step feet out about 12 to 16 inches with both feet so just the back of head is in contact with the wall. Isometric contraction for about 45 sec. to a minute.. Basically body at 20 degree angle off wall with just the head touching wall. The cervical spine will naturally want to go back to supportive place under the skull. once you step away from wall and focus on postural alignment . This one never fails to impress clients on how easy and how immediate results are..

You have literally no idea how much peace you just brought to my world haha!

I got the exact pain you explain during wod 11.4 on Saturday half way through my ohs but pushed through, then got it again on Sunday during a wod and couldn’t keep going…then AGAIN today, but this time it was so excruciating, it brought me to my knees! I ended up going to the ER thinking it was something that had to do with my brain, but the cat scan came back negative. A friend sent me the video link and i was soooo relieved to hear that other people are experiencing the same issues (as effed up as that may sound).

I used my lacrosse balls and towel tonight and will be doing the other movements in the gym tomorrow along with getting a massage. Thank you so much for this video Kelly, you have no idea how much i appreciate it! Can’t wait to take your cert this summer :)

Thanks KStar. I get exertional headaches from time to time. I got one during 11.4 as well and had to stop after 14 OHS. Those post burpee overhead squats were pretty much a recipe for one. I’ll try implementing some of these and see how it goes.

Thank you!! This hit me like a brick during the 11.4 WOD as well. I also felt it in the last two workouts after… I will work it out and keep the head position in mind for the future.
