Hey MWodikons,
Today’s mission is to have a really good heart to heart chat with your lower legs. Tight heel cords can cause problems up the entire athletic chain. You should think to yourself, “knee pain? Foot problems? Stretch my calves.” If you are an athlete that finds yourself in positions where your knees are coming forward (like oh, olympic lifting, playing field sports…) then you had better be obsessing over your ankle/calf mobility. If you have foot problems of any kind, chances are you also are missing some length in the back of your leg. Remember, treating dysfunctional/short tissues can help with your issues, but the real problems may be at the hip or further upstream. Where the rats get in, is not necessarily where they chew. But, you still have to deal with with they chew.

Kstar,
Not sure if this is related but could be because I have been slacking.
Lately(Maybe a week) I have this tearing pain in my heal when I extend my leg and put ankle in flexion. It is a meat ripping of the bone kind of pain… I can’t even get into the calf stretch…
Those shoes Terra Planas?

What kind of rubber bands are you using for exercises that need 300 pounds of pressure?
If infroaimton were soccer, this would be a goooooal!
Ralph– go to the Rogue Fitness link search mobility on the site and they have a couple of packages put together. One with a green jump stretch band, one with a blue band. Both bands are used frequently so good to get both so you have both options available to you.
@Cameron
