Hey Mobilistas,
Following up on the recent post about standing desk mechanics, here is a recent talk I was lucky enough to give at Google (at the Googleplex!). Turns out, those kids are obsessed with all aspects of performance. They have some of the most progressive policies on desk management/deskitis mitigation on the planet. Sitting and standing are high skill activities, we should probably train our sitting athletes accordingly. Know anyone that sits? Yeah, everyone.
Thanks supple Google Leopards!

The 4 Hour Body -

Great talk Kelly!
Kelly, it’s so good to see your work and wisdom reaching out into the world. You talk about making change in the body; this is also making change in society. People see this and it reshapes how they understand their health and movement.
Congrats on this talk.

Awesome…
Great talk. Hopefully we can get the people up from the chair someday.
Cheers from Norway
I was watching the Track and Field championships and in the women’s 5000, with a little over 2 laps left, there was a very close distance between the lady in first and second. When the lady in first started to pick up the pace, she stayed organized, pelvis tipped under her, “the position” if you will. The lady in 2nd broke, pelvis tipped forward and in the end she ended up in 4th I think, but at least 3rd. As I watched, I said to myself, “That lady can’t keep up looking like that.” It is amazing how important that is, especially at such a high level. It can mean a spot on the olympic team or a relaxing summer on the couch.
Kelly–this was fantastic. So glad to see you sharing your good work with more audiences.

That’s super cool, Kelly, way to bring the message to the masses.
I hope they ‘got’ how funny your humor was in the talk. “now ur pretty much ready for the Olympics.”
Thank you so much for your ongoing work, Kelly. The tools and ideas you have given away freely have made me an immensely better CF coach and athlete. You are literally saving lives and changing the world on a global scale now.

I really enjoyed this and I’m glad Google put it online. I have heard that chronically contracting your muscles for long periods of time (bracing) is problematic. Is this not the case for 20% abdominal contraction while seated or standing?
It’s putting you in a better position/set up.
Hi Kelly! I would like to know the brands of electrolyte mix you recommend in the video. Could you specify which you prefer?
Jon M– Nuun or Endurolytes Fizz by Hammer
Way to go Kelly! Keep up the great work.
This is awesome. Every major corporation is now gonna have to start considering the positions of their employees for longevity now that google took the first leap. So glad Google jumped on this, and they couldn’t have picked a more perfect speaker to address these issues. Thanks for posting this, Imma blast it out to my athletes with desk jobs.
Hey Kelly,
I’m a student at Cal and a big fan of this site. I read much of Mark Rippetoe’s works, in addition to your blog, and now I want to take some physiology/mechanics classes. If you have time, I’d love to hear your input on some of the classes I’m thinking of taking.

Power to the people, K*. And thank you for bashing Avatar – now I can remain one of the 3 individuals on the planet who hasn’t seen it.
Niger approves.
Am watching the video, and I have this question re: hydration (have sea salt on hand, don’t have electolyte tablets) How much salt/quart or liter of water should I add?
