Hey Mwodies,

Today’s MobRx adventure is ideas on restoring function and suppleness to an athlete with a repaired (once torn) hamstring.  Restoring the sliding surfaces of the body’s largest engine is vital.   Even if  you don’t have a torn hamstring, chances are you’d benefit from some dedicated proximal hamstring loving.

Mission:  2 min per mob/per side  If you haven’t taken a crack at some of the pieces from our friends at Jumpstretch, do.

I know for a fresh muscle tear you want to lightly exercise the muscle to flush blood through the system and break up the scar tissue ( http://startingstrength.com/index.php/site/roundtable_healing_avoiding_injuries ). Is icing also a good idea? Any other things to do? I minorly tore my VMO recently.

well it looks like the standard procedure is to ice… I’ll be getting on that.

    Thanks
    This is great.

Any chance on doing a segment like this on a quad tear?

    Take care

Kelly, this is excellent. I pulled my Hamstring about 2 years ago and it hasn’t felt right since. it’s was in that high hammy area and since then i haven’t been able to come close to my previous deadlift of 450. i can now max around 385. boooo.

it still feels pretty tight after i do any deadlifting or similar stuff. how often should/can i do these exercises and when should i back off??

So that first one was awkward. I’m at my usual gym, getting into this mobwod… no big deal right? I pop, lock & drop it as rx’d, I start flossing that hamstring to the beat (applebottom jeans, boots with the fur song) and BANG chicks all over the gym pop their heads up like gazelles in the savannah. Palpable electricity. Two minutes per leg would have started a riot. Will try again at home.

As always, great stuff. My deadlift to squat max ratio is 1:3, which caused me a lot of problems in the past few years. Working on restoring what is now a clear strength imbalance.

As a tight hip guy, would be great to see a sequence like this of all the flossing movements through the groin and quad.

What brand bands are you using? I’m looking at Body Bands but the colors you are using in this hamstring tear video don’t match up to the colors on Body Bands Website. ( Loop Resistance Bands)
Your mobility videos are amazing. I’m seeing improvement just in 2 months.
    Thank you. Joe

Thanks for the video! I have one question that I would really appreciate it if you could answer…I strained my hamstring due to excessive mileage training for a marathon approx. 4 weeks ago. I am still feeling slight pain when walking up stairs, and if I were to run the pain begins almost immediately. How do I know when I can begin to do these exercises without further aggravating the hamstring?
