Hey Supple Legion,
Today’s mission is to make a game plan for dealing with athletes that are either hypermobile or pregnant.
When considering movement quality or dysfunction, we usually break the problem into one of four categories.
1) Motor control
2) Sliding Surfaces
3) Joint Capsule
4) Muscle Dynamics
If you encounter an athlete with excessive range of motion (like a pregnant athlete, or a former dancer, gymnast, former floppy person…) the last thing you need to do is to hoark on their joints or excessively “stretch” their musculature at end ranges. This means that we are left with a focus on improved motor control and sliding surface mobs. Simple. If people are loosey goosey, we need to teach them to be stiff when they need be and how to control all of that crazy range of motion.

ps. Range of motion is nothing without motor-control
