Rebuilding Your Feet With Brian MacKenzie

Hey MWodies,

Today’s mission begins a series with Brian MacKenzie of Crossfit Endurance about rebuilding your feet.  We receive many questions about people’s feet ranging from orthotics, to shoes, to bunions, to how to ween off high shoes, to how to stand. In later episodes we will cover mobilization and specific interventions to rebuild your weak feet.

Ps.  Please keep the debate on ice raging.  My favorite quote so far, “you can have my ice when your pry it from my cold dead hands.”  And by all means, as we have always maintained on this blog,  Test/retest everything.  We will try and and address your questions and comments in future episodes. Please keep it civil.  We don’t spam or block anyone with a civil voice.

    hi kelly and brian,
can you just explain screwing your feet into the ground? do you mean just planting the ball of your foot & heel directly down into the ground? or do you mean keeping the ball & heel planted on the ground while rotating the knee/ankle/foot outward? or neither? thank you.

We could really use better camera work on this video. There are so many crucial descriptions that are completely missed because we cannot see the instructor’s example that he’s making off camera.

Can you please elaborate on what “screwing your foot” into the ground means? It sounds like you should 1) locate a correct stance by squeezing the butt and tightening the abs 2) point your toes straight 3) rotate your foot away from the body (???)

Taking this to the next step, should I be doing this same type of rotation when I plant while running? When I squat? Or is this just an exercise to perform while standing?
