Community MWod Video: Linda Miller of VES Sports - Compression & Recovery

      Hey Leopards,

Today’s episode is a conversation with VES Compression’s founder Dr. Linda Miller. If you’ve been in the rehab game at all, you’ve for sure run into Game Ready in the training/phyiso room. A few years ago, I was working with some Tour cyclists and noted their love of the Normatec compression device. At the MWod shop, we are pretty big fans of the Marc Pro for autogenic compression but, we are always looking for ways to get ahead and stay ahead of the adaptation curve.

Earlier this year, we had the good fortune of running into Dr. Miller through another performance coach (CJ Martin of Crossfit Invictus). VES was generous enough to loan us a set up for the last 6 months and we felt the performance results merited an episode. Can you spin your way on a bike to the same results? Yep. Can you go for a nice long non-exercise-activity walk and get the same results? Yep. Is it heavenly to sit back and have your tissues compressed and you check twitter? Yep.

We ended up setting the unit next to our gym couch to see how the folks liked it. Put it this way, it’s heavily loved on. Too many athletes we know end up making the primary error of training hard and then sitting. This is a mistake. You’ve got to move (exercise) and keep moving (walk/ride/compress etc) if you want to maximize your results.

Know how impressed we are with your 200kg front squat when you’ve got cankles? (a little, but cankles?) And, btw, your legs looked jacked when they aren’t so puffy (ask Jstar). And you can train harder the next time.

I don’t think anyone has an issue with Kelly promoting products he believes in and that work on improving performance. Do you have an issue with him promoting supernova every video?

He can promote anything he pleases. It’s his site and he’s done it in the past. As for the supernova, it’s more annoying to see comments on every page asking, “when are they back in stock?” He built the brand based on unconventional techniques and resourceful application. I guess I was just lamenting that this type of equipment serves the 0.05% of us…but hey “sometimes you want to see the Cadillac.”

In nearly 500 videos he’s hocked less than a dozen products. I’d consider this more of an expert review than an infomercial.

Would voodoo-ing your entire leg; starting from the feet, and moving up towards the hip, yield somewhat the same results as the VES compression systems?

Pops is having his Achilles repaired, this can fit the budget if needed and was wondering if you know how many weeks post surgery ( worst case) he would be able to use it for recovery IF it would help. Thanks- Hurley

Good results with 3-4 flex bands, a heck of a lot less expensive and time consuming

Using the auction house is one of the best ways to make gold for any player, but the problem
is a lot of people do not know how to use it properly.
As I was looking at a particular beautiful piece it
dawned on me that we too can mend our lives with gold.

They went all naked; afterwards used to wear buckle of
    trees.

How much is it? Better worse or the same as marcpro ? If you had to choose one or the other? Comparable to normatec?
