Hey Mobstars,

Today’s mission is about getting ready to spend some time in the always pleasant receiving position. Most of us are so inflexible, uncomfortable, and so ineffective after pulling ourselves under the barbell that we end up hurrying out of the hole as fast as we can. The goal is to have enough surplus mobility that not only can we receive the barbell in a good position, but we can receive the barbell in a bad position. We want options. We want movement possibilities. Miss that barbell forward? No problem. Think junk yard dog attitude (thanks Coach B) meets supple leopard.

Spend as many minutes in each position as it takes to have mobility options.

“Flexibility is a functional thing,” Dr. Knudson says. “You only need enough range of motion in your joints to avoid injury. More is not necessarily better.”

    - I guess performance doesn’t matter then.. Main thing to ask when reading this kind of research/articles is, did the study actually correspond to an intelligent approach to stretching or was it one muscle stretched in a non-functional position with a non-functional test/re-test without follow up of addressing the joint mobility, fascia/sliding surfaces, MLS or subsequent strenghtening/re-education of that new range.

I also love when “specialists” talk about functionality without any context.

The revolution is coming and some people will be left behind..

    Johnny-
Click on the Rogue Fitness logo on the right side of the page search mobility on the search function. The have some packages set up with a band and lacrosse ball, and the link to the rumble roller. You will want a blue and a green band and 3 lacrosse balls. You will need a single and 2 which will be taped together.
